April 19 | Baker names new track, cross country coach
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. -
Zach Kindler has been named head coach of Baker
University's cross country and track and field programs, Baker athletic
director Dan Harris announced on Thursday.
Kindler, a former all-American track athlete at Fort Hays State University,
has coached track and cross country at Kansas Wesleyan in Salina, Kan.,
since 2004. He will replace Rob Mallinder, who plans to coach in his native
New Zealand or Australia.
"³Zach Kindler brings a passion to our program," Harris said. "His strong
desire to serve Baker and his ability to bring accomplished physical
education teaching credentials to the department were all factors in his
selection as the newest member of the Baker University family."
Kindler has a bachelor's and master's degree from Fort Hays State, where he
was a two-time academic all-American and an NCAA national javelin champion
in 2001.
Kindler was named KCAC women¹s cross country coach of the year in 2004 and
2006, when he guided Kansas Wesleyan to conference championships both years.
Before becoming head coach at Kansas Wesleyan, Kindler was a graduate
assistant coach at Fort Hays State University.
