No. 10 Baker battles, but falls to No. 5 Oklahoma City, 18-15

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University wrestling team nearly pulled off its second biggest upset of the season Wednesday evening, but it wasn’t meant to be as Oklahoma City pulled away in the mid-matches to take an 18-15 victory.
AJ Gassman put the Wildcats on the board first in the 133-pound match with a 8-3 decision over Alvie Killingsworth. Phil Henes added a 6-0 victory in the 141-pound match and third-ranked Jarell Price rolled to a 6-0 victory in the 149-pound match.

Gebhardt named HAAC Wrestler of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Junior Brandon Gebhardt of Baker capped off an award-winning weekend by being selected the Heart of America Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Gebhardt was an integral part of a history-making weekend for the Wildcats, who captured their first-ever Kansas Cup in just the third year of the program’s existence. A heavyweight competitor from Sparks, Nev., Gebhardt won all threeof his matches en route to being chosen the Most Oustanding Wrestler of the tournament.

Wildcats ink Olathe football and wrestling standout Connor Middleton

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Just one day after winning its first-ever Kansas Cup, the Baker University wrestling team announced the signing of Olathe Northwest High School standout Connor Middleton.
Middleton, a 5’9 dual athlete in football and wrestling has a well-decorated high school career and looks to continue to pursue two sports while attending college.
