Baker wrestling receives two votes in NAIA Wrestling Coaches’ Top 20 Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Notre Dame College (Ohio) remained at No. 1 in the second edition of the NAIA Wrestling Coaches' Top 20 Poll, the NAIA announced Tuesday. The Falcons earned 101 points with 10 wrestlers listed among the top-12 individuals in their respective weight class. California Baptist moves to No. 2 with 85.5 points and are followed by No. 3 Missouri Valley with 84 points, No. 4 Great Falls (Mont.) with 82.5 points and Southern Oregon at No. 5 with 78 points.

Baker moved up in this week’s poll to No. 25 in the nation with 2 votes nationally. Junior Clarence Jordan (Waterloo, Iowa) was listed among the top-12 individuals in his respective weight class of 174 pounds. Jordan currently sits at No. 10.

The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the groupings. The next poll will be announced on Dec. 22.

Nowak finishes 2nd at Mizzou OpenNowak

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Freshman Jacob Nowak (pictured, 184 pounds, Overland Park, Kan.) finished second at the University of Missouri Open on Sunday. Nowak fell to Campbellsville University's Spenser Adams 5-3 in the finals. Adams is ranked No. 4 in the nation in the NAIA.

Twenty-two wrestlers from Baker competed in the Mizzou Open, which consisted of two divisions: freshman/sophomore and open. All but three Baker wrestlers competed in the freshman/sophomore division.

Baker improves to 2-0 in dualsWrestling

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - The Baker University wrestling team advanced its dual meet record to a 2-0 after a 37-6 victory over fellow first-year program, Concordia University from Seward, Neb.

Freshman Alan Callahan got the Wildcats started at 125 pounds in front of his hometown with an exciting 15-2 major decision over Concordia's Logan Shanks. Robb Waters, freshman from Kansas City, Mo., followed Callahan with his own 13-2 major decision over Brady Chancellor. The Bulldogs got on the board at 141 pounds with Alex Rostvet claiming a 6-1 decision over Baker's Kalem Bennett.
