Lynn Bott, MS, ATC, LAT
Director of Sports Medicine, Instructor
Lynn Bott has been a certified athletic trainer since 1976. Before joining the Baker staff in 2005, he served the University of Kansas, first as an assistant athletic trainer under legendary Dean Nesmith, and then as the director of athletic trainer services, from 1976 through 2004.
Bott has been involved professionally at the state, district and national levels. He has served as President of the Kansas Athletic Trainers’ Society and the Mid-America Athletic Trainers’ Association and served on the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) Board of Directors as the District 5 Director.
Bott was honored in 2005 by the NATA with the Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award. In 2006 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Kansas Athletic Trainers' Association. In 2009, Bott was inducted into the Mid-America Athletic Trainers’ Association Hall of Fame. This association serves North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. Also in 2009, he was inducted into the KU Trainers’ Hall of Fame.
Lynsey Payne, MS, ATC, LAT
Assistant Athletic Trainer
Payne, who has been a certified athletic trainer since 2004, serves as the assistant athletic trainer and an instructor. She has served area events through the Kansas Center for Athletic Medicine and previously held an internship position with the Topeka Tarantulas, formerly of the Central Hockey League. Payne has also assisted with the Bill Self Basketball Camp at the University of Kansas.
Payne is a licensed athletic trainer through the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts, a certified athletic trainer through the Board of Certification, a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, Mid-America Athletic Trainers’ Association, and the Kansas Athletic Trainers’ Society.
A native of Topeka, Payne attended the University of Kansas and was involved as a student with the transformation to accreditation, graduating in the first accredited class in 2004. She received her master’s degree in sports administration from the University of Kansas in 2005.
