Atanmo and Petty highlight Baker all-HAAC selections

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Senior Gloria Atanmo (Phoenix, Ariz.) and freshman Shelbi Petty (DeSoto, Kan.) were named to the 2012 Women’s Basketball All-Heart of America Athletic Conference team, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.

Atanmo, a third-team selection, led the Wildcats with nine double-doubles and ranked second on the team in scoring with 11.2 points per game. She led Baker with 8.6 rebounds per game.

Baker looks forward to Senior Day after 67-49 loss to Benedictine

ATCHISON, Kan. – Baker opened the game with a 3-0 lead and only gained that advantage two more times in the opening 12 minutes before Benedictine finally pulled away.

Baker (6-23, 4-13 HAAC) pulled to within three points with just over a minute to go before the half, but it would be the closest Baker would come, as Benedictine (16-12, 11-6 HAAC) pulled away in the second half for a 67-49 victory.

Freshman Shelbi Petty and senior Rae Lynne Stewart led the Baker offense with team high’s of 12 points apiece. Senior Gloria Atanmo finished as Baker’s leading rebounder with eight.

Cold shooting sinks Wildcats in 61-43 defeat to Graceland

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – A 19-3 run by Graceland over the first nine minutes of the game doomed the Wildcats on Saturday afternoon as Baker fell, 61-43 to Graceland University.

Baker (6-22, 4-12 HAAC) shot just 3-for-27 (11 percent) from the field in the first half, while trailing 30-11 heading into the break.

Shelbi Petty, Avery Vogts and Gloria Atanmo led the Baker offense with seven points apiece, while Rae Lynne Stewart anchored the defense with 10 rebounds.
