Baker inks Ashley Werner to letter of intent

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Baker women's basketball head coach Susan Decker announced today the signing of Ashley Werner (Pittsburg, Kan.) to a national letter of intent.Ashley Werner

“First and foremost, we noticed her toughness. She played extremely hard,” said Susan Decker. “She has a chance to come in and compete immediately."

As a senior, Werner averaged 12.4 points and 4.1 assists per game. For her efforts, she was named first-team All-League, All-County and second-team All-State.

Emily Gibson named NAIA Honorable Mention All-AmericanEmily Gibson

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - In her first season with the team, junior Emily Gibson was named an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American on Tuesday afternoon.

Gibson, a 6-foot-1 center from Kansas City, Mo., finished fifth in the Heart of America Athletic Conference in scoring with 14.8 points per game and first in rebounds per game with 10.1 en route to being named a first-team All-HAAC performer.

Tayler Stacks named NAIA Scholar AthleteTStacks

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - For the third consecutive season, Baker University women's basketball player Tayler Stacks has been named an NAIA Scholar Athlete for the 2010 season. The 2010 Daktronics-NAIA Women's Basketball Scholar Athletes were announced Monday afternoon with 120 student-athletes and over 100 schools receiving the prestigious honor.

Stacks, the lone senior on this years squad, helped the Wildcats advance to the HAAC semifinals before falling to William Jewell College. Baker finished the season 18-14 overall and 13-7 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
