No. 17 Baker women fall in season opener to Southern Nazarene
Christine Janssens scored the lone goal.
BETHANY, Okla. - The season opener didn't go as planned for the No. 17 Baker Wildcats. In just a little over 15 minutes into the game, it was the Baker (0-1) sitting in a 0-2 hole, a deficit from which the Wildcats could not recover.
The Crimson Storm (1-0) scored two goals within five minutes of each other. At the 11th minute Rachel Eguren scored on a pass from Whitney Seaton, and at the 16th minute Jackie Acevedo received a headed ball after a poor throw-in by the Wildcats, which she buried in the back of the net.
The second half saw a more balanced attack. Senior Christine Janssens scored the lone goal for the Wildcats with 8:29 left in the game when she drove down the middle and scored with a shot in the lower right corner of the goal.
The Wildcats will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when they face Oklahoma Christian University at 5:00 p.m. CT.
