2009 Softball Coaching Staff

Head Coach Matt WindleCoach Windle

Matt Windle will begin his second season at the helm of the Wildcat softball team.  In his first season, he guided the Wildcats to an 18-31 record and an eighth-place finish in the Heart of America conference.  The Wildcats qualified for the conference tournament for the first time in four years.

 

As a pitcher and outfielder, Coach Windle played four years with a semi-professional baseball team located in the greater Kansas City area.  Since then, he has played on many slow pitch teams that have qualified for nationals. After his playing days, Coach Windle served as the assistant coach at Free State High School for three years where they qualified for the state tournament in his final season.

Matt Windle also serves as the assistant volleyball coach and teaches a course in the Liberal Arts program.  He lives in Lawrence with his wife, Austyn and their two Boxers, Beamer and Bentley.


Assistant Coach Paul AllenCoach Allen

Paul Allen has served as assistant coach since 2008. As a long time softball player and coach, he brings a vast amount of experience to the program. Coach Allen played collegiate baseball at Washburn University and was a four-year letter winner. He has also played men’s fast-pitch softball for 10 years and has been on ASA and ISC state and regional championship teams.

Paul lives in Topeka where he runs his own insurance company and has two daughters, Jayde and Brooke; both of whom have attended and played at Baker.

Assistant Coach Manuel Carmona

Manny returns as the second assistant in 2011 and works primarily with the pitchers and catchers.  Coach Carmona played collegiate baseball at Baylor University and has continued to play men’s fast-pitch.  He is a member of a national qualifying slow-pitch men’s team that has competed for several years out of Topeka and Lawrence.

Manny lives in Lawrence, works for the Johnson County Parks and Recreation, and has a son Reece and a daughter Marley.
