The Rev. Franklin Greene, ’42, recently retired after 70-plus years of active ministry. He was honored in May 2010 by Baker University with the Alumni Citation Award.

Dick Soulen, BA ’54, and his wife, Peggy, recently traveled to Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, increasing the number of countries they have visited around the world to 95. Dick’s recent book, Sacred Scripture: A Short History of Interpretation, published by Westminster John Knox, 2009, is being translated in its longer version and adapted for the church in China. The fourth edition of his Handbook of Biblical Criticism is due out soon. Dick continues to teach in the School of Theology at Virginia Union University in Richmond, Va. The Soulens live in Williamsburg, Va.
Susanne Richardson Teel, fs ’69, received an honorary doctorate at the May 2010 Baker commencement ceremony. She recently completed a term as chair of the Baker University Board of Trustees.
Margaret Engler, BA ’84, received National Board Certification in November 2008, and earned a Master of Arts in Education in May 2010. She is a high school teacher in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Matt Whitworth, CAS ’80, was sworn in last year as a United States Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri after a 22-year career as an assistant United States attorney. He is assigned to the federal courthouse in Jefferson City, Mo. He and his wife, Jeanie Mancuso Whitworth, CAS ’80, live in Central Missouri.
Rachel (Huhn) Langford, BS ’99, and Seth Langford, BS ’01, welcomed son William Thomas, born on Nov. 22, 2009. The Langfords also have a daughter, Riley.
Jeffrey Portsche, ’96, and Nichelle Portsche, ’97, welcomed daughter Kelsey Steele Portsche, born on Nov. 6, 2010. Kelsey has three older sisters, Madisyn, Hailey and Calley.
Dick Stephens, BS ’90, is president and owner of Varsity Communication Inc. in Seattle. Over the past 20 years, magazine coverage, sports marketing representation and consulting work has taken Stephens to Holland, Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland, England, Scotland, Ireland, Northern Ireland and Canada. His wife, Merideth Hartman Stephens, ’91, is a practice manager for Bothell Women’s Health. They live in Snohomish, Wash., with their three children, Lily, 13; Simon, 11; and Fletcher, 6. They attended the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver.

Kia Breaux, MSM ’05, was recently named chief of bureau for the Associated Press in Missouri and Kansas. She had served as acting bureau chief since 2008, overseeing AP’s news and business operations in the territory.

Heather Kenney, Ed.D ’08, was recently named Outstanding New Principal by the Kansas City Suburban Elementary Principals Association. She previously worked as assistant principal at Cedar Creek Elementary and as an elementary teacher and curriculum project coordinator in the North Kansas City School District.

Vicky Hildebrondt McGrath, MBA ’09, is director of the Cotton-O’Neil Cancer Center. McGrath has 27 years of experience in health care, including six years in oncology nursing services and management. She was nurse manager of the cancer center and the Cotton-O’Neil Digestive Health Center before being named director.
