During your Summer Orientation and Enrollment session, you will meet with an academic advisor, register for your fall courses, learn your way around campus and begin building lifelong friendships at Baker University.

8 a.m. | Registration and reception with Baker University faculty and staff

8:15 a.m. | World language placement exam

9 a.m. | Opening general session and enrollment information session

9:45 a.m. | Community standards and student privacy session

10:35 a.m.-12:30 p.m. | Orientation small-group visits to the following:

  • Information Technology
  • Student Health and Counseling Center
  • Student ID Center
  • Student Involvement and Resource Fair

12:30 p.m. | Student lunch

1:15-3 p.m. | Orientation small-group visits to the following:

  • Academic Advising
  • Common Reading Book Kickoff

  • How I Met My Alma Mater Session

3 p.m. | Students meet back with parents and family members:

  • Optional campus and residence hall tours

Overnight accommodations for students will be provided at no cost. Students will room with another new student in a room in the New Living Center on campus. Students should bring along their personal linens & a pillow.

Detour | Please Note

US-56 will be closed between US-59 and Baldwin City until mid-October because of road construction. Please use the following detours.

From Wichita


  • Take I-35 to the Ottawa exit (Exit 183).
  • Proceed north on US-59, past US-56, to the N 650 Road exit.
  • Go east on N 650 to the stop sign at 1055.
  • Turn right on 1055, which becomes Sixth Street, as you enter Baldwin City.
  • Continue south on Sixth Street, crossing the Highway 56 intersection at the stoplight.
  • Harter Union (site of brunch) is three blocks south.
  • Turn right on Dearborn.
  • Collins Center is (site of graduation ceremony) four blocks south at 514 Sixth Street.

From Lawrence


  • Take Highway 59 south to the N 650 Road exit.
  • Go east on N 650 to the stop sign at 1055.
