Want to Be a 2012 Orientation Leader?

Play an integral role in the success of all new student orientation and transition programs by serving as an ambassador to new students and their parents and family members.

Responsibilities

Orientation leaders are responsible for a wide range of activities. Below are initial tasks that all orientation leaders are expected to assist with:

  • Lead groups of new students and parents and family members on campus tours and through question-and-answer sessions covering a variety of topics
  • Set up and take down events during the specific orientation program
  • Attend all OL training sessions and orientation programs, including arriving early to each of these activities
  • Exhibit a positive attitude toward orientation programs and Baker University

Desired Skills

  • Desire to assist new students and their parents and family members during their transition to Baker University
  • Effective communication skills with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds in both small- and large-group settings: administrators, faculty members, parents and family members, new students, and so on
  • Strong public speaking skills
  • Ability to improvise and think under pressure
  • Positive attitude toward Baker University and orientation programs
