Studio Art Scholarship Application

The Department of Mass Media and Visual Arts offers a studio art scholarship to an incoming freshman or transfer student each year.

Priority will be given to applications received before March 1.

In addition to the application, students who are interested in studio art should include their portfolio. If you plan to pursue art education or art history, a portfolio is not necessary.

Directions for Creating a Portfolio

First, collect images of 10 to 15 of your artworks (higher-quality digital photographs are ideal). You can select drawings, paintings, prints, photographs, sculpture, ceramics, or any other media you have used. Burn all of these images on a CD or save them onto a small flash drive. Next, write a short statement in which you discuss your work and your interest in art in general. Finally, if possible, get a letter from your art teacher as a recommendation (this is not required, but it is helpful).
