Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry

Baldwin City Campus

While studying chemistry, you will gain a new perspective on the human existence and the world around us. At Baker University, we encourage exploration as you learn about life and the surrounding environment at the smallest level.

With small classes in an intimate, liberal-arts environment, students receive the personal attention to succeed. This begins with the basics of chemistry, the theoretical framework for understanding the physical nature of the universe. Introductory courses will emphasize the calculation methods and procedures necessary to perform successful self-directed studies while introducing you to standard equipment used in chemical experiments.

All chemistry courses are accompanied by lab time to observe and engage in the practical application of chemical theories. These lab experiences are key in developing your understanding of the field of chemistry. Following guidelines set by the American Chemical Society, you will work closely with experienced, knowledgeable faculty in planning, executing and drawing results from chemical experimentations.

By gaining fundamental knowledge and practical experience, you will leave with the skills and confidence to go on to pursue advanced studies or a career in the medical sciences, teaching, research or any of many opportunities.
