Bachelor's Degree in International Business
Baldwin City Campus
In an age of globalization and ever-changing capabilities in technology and communication, the concept of a local business becomes more obsolete. Businesses and industries are constantly looking for international ventures, and with a degree in International Business, you will have skills that qualify you to participate in and lead such global endeavors.
The base of the International Business degree is a solid foundation in business. Through hands-on work within small groups in and out of the classroom, we teach you the fundamentals of business before applying those principles to real-life situations, culminating in the capstone course, Business Policy, in which you will research and analyze a real corporation before preparing a proposal for business improvement. Our curriculum focuses on rational approaches to business, problem solving and awareness of business environments. We emphasize the ethical and social responsibilities of the modern businessperson.
As a major in International Business, you will be introduced to global industry, trade and economics with opportunities for in-depth study in these fields. Students are required to study a foreign language, increasing your ability to communicate internationally. Students are encouraged to study or complete an internship abroad, giving you a look at foreign cultures and industries.
An invaluable companion to the Business curriculum is Baker’s general education program. Through coursework in numerous subjects, you learn not only facts and theories. You learn how to learn, how to continue learning throughout life and how to adjust as society and industry change, which is a vital skill for any businessperson. You will leave with the confidence to succeed in your first job and to adjust with each subsequent professional pursuit.
Baker's Business programs on the Baldwin City campus have been recognized by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Baker is one of a select number of schools to be accredited by the association. In a national exam, designed to determine students' knowledge upon graduation, Baker students routinely score in the top 10 to 20% compared to students from other schools across the country. Baker’s recent employment placement rate is 99 percent (80% employed; 19% pursued advanced degree.)
