Religion Scholarships & Financial Aid
During your time at Baker, you will be eligible for various types of financial aid and scholarships. General academic scholarships and scholarships for participation in campus activities are awarded starting your freshman year. Departmental scholarships awarded for academic excellence are awarded annually at the Honors Banquet, held each spring. Each scholarship stipulates in which year of study you are eligible.

Scholarships in Your First Year
The Department of Philosophy and Religion offers no participation-based scholarships to incoming freshmen. You may, however, be eligible for participation awards within other departments. See participation awards to learn about what is available to incoming freshman.
Based on your high school GPA and ACT or SAT scores, you also may be eligible for one of several general academic scholarships. See general academic scholarships to learn about what is available to you in your first year.
Scholarships in Subsequent years of Study
As you delve further into your studies, departmental scholarships for academic success are awarded. The recipients of almost all of these awards are announced each year at the Honors Banquet, held toward the end of the spring semester.
The Department of Philosophy and Religion gives these awards with financial prizes to be applied to the following year's tuition:
- Mildred Hunt Riddle Departmental Recognition Scholarship for Philosophy and Religion
- Paul Dick Scholarship
- Warren E. and Marion Rhodes DeSpain Scholarship in Church Leadership
- Thomas G. Manson and Frances B. Manson Scholarship
- Woolverton Endowed Scholarship
