New Living Center

The New Living Center houses 190 students in 48 rooms. Five additional rooms house residential assistants and other personnel. Student suites include a common living room area for two or four suitemates and one bathroom per two students.

Residents can whip up a quick meal or late-night snack in the community kitchen. The center also houses two classrooms and a computer lab with printing capabilities.

Meet the New Living Center Hall Staff

Kayla Smith, area coordinator in the New Living Center, is a second-year grad student in higher education from Lee’s Summit, Mo. She chose Baker because it is just the right size, and the people and community are wonderful! She loves John Mayer, Starbucks, Zebra Print, family, singing and dancing. Her favorite books are The Giving Tree and If You Give a Pig a Party. She likes being an AC because of the great residents she meets and working efficiently with the other staff members.

Chelsea “Chels” Pennock, senior resident assistant in the New Living Center, is a junior music education major from Parker, Colo. She is involved in GSA, Student Senate and CMENC. She chose Baker because of the small classes and its music program. She likes to do any kind of activity outdoors, running and watching movies. She also likes rock climbing, where she got the nickname Rock Climbing Shoes Girl, from the music department. She likes being an SRA because of the relationships she has with her residents, having fun with different types of programs, and having her very own board in her hall.

Aaron “AC or The Baron” Caldwell, resident assistant in the New Living Center, is a junior biology major from Overland Park, Kan., who is also minoring in chemistry with an emphasis in pre-med. He is involved in cross country, track and field, Delta Tau Delta (social member), ParMentors, Order of Omega and Eta Phi Sigma. He chose Baker because of the academics and because it would prepare him best for medical school. He likes being an RA because of the opportunity to connect with other students.

Daniel Davis, resident assistant in the New Living Center, is a sophomore from DeSoto, Kan., majoring in computer science with an emphasis in gaming and is also minoring in math. He is involved in band, choir and ELS and is an Orientation Leader. He chose Baker because of the proximity to home and the academic prestige. He loves watching movies and playing video games. He likes being an RA because he has his own room.

Ryan Douvier, resident assistant in the New Living Center, is a senior studio art major from Sedgwick, Kan. He is minoring in physics and German. He plays basketball for the Wildcats and chose Baker because of basketball and its academic program. He likes to play any sport or recreational game and loves the outdoors. He likes being an RA because of the relationships built between students and because it’s a steady job.

Megan Rosa, resident assistant in the New Living Center, is a sophomore from Olathe, Kan. She is majoring in both chemistry and exercise science and minoring in physics. She is involved in cross country, track and field, and AllChemists Club. She chose Baker because the people were nice, and because of the cross country and track and field programs and the academic prestige. She likes being an RA because she gets to decorate the public areas so people will use and enjoy them more.

Aryn Schowengerdt, resident assistant in the New Living Center, is a junior psychology major from Dodge City, Kan. She chose Baker because of the great location and because her parents also attended Baker. She loves reading and playing tennis and she doesn’t like the feel of carpet. She likes being an RA because of the strong relationships she builds with her Baker residents.
