Parents 101:
What Parents Should Know
We know it can be difficult to send your child off to college. That’s why Baker University is providing your student a one-of-a-kind precollege experience in our new Summer Bridge Program.
Tools for Success
Baker will help prepare your child to better manage his or her time, improve study habits and adjust to newfound independence.
Full-Time Support
Students will receive full-time support, both in and out of the classroom. Residence assistants will live with the participants in the New Living Center, Baker’s newest residence hall, and professors will be readily accessible for academic and personal aid.
A Taste of College
Through common meals, study time and recreational periods, students will enjoy hanging out with other college-bound students and be able to share their excitement and concerns about college life.
A Running Start
We’re confident students will not only enjoy the experience but also gain valuable college experience that will help them stay ahead of the curve next fall.
A Student From Last Year Says . . .
The small classroom setting was very comforting and I enjoyed forming a personal relationship with my professors. It’s always a good feeling when you can go to your professor and express any concerns that you are having or just go in to say hello and share a laugh. Being away at Baker also helped me exercise good financial management habits. Baker had a very positive impact on me. I gained more confidence in myself as a student, learned how to write my very first paper longer than 10 pages and I've met amazingly dedicated professors who want to ensure my success.

Gaining the Tools to Succeed
The Summer Bridge program was an amazing experience, one I will never forget. I developed skills that I could immediately use once I started college.
—Keyana
I really enjoyed the five weeks participating in the Summer Bridge program. You are able to build strong relationships with faculty and your peers during that period. By the time the program is over, you realize anything is possible in college if you remain committed to doing the work necessary to succeed.
