Baker University’s Day of Giving, 24 hours of online giving and paying it forward, took place February 12 on Founders Day. The event featured a variety of challenges and matching gift opportunities that raised over $61,000 from more than 210 donors.

Student volunteers worked throughout the day along with Baker alumni, faculty and staff to support the event. In keeping with the Founders Day theme, several challenges were tied to the years the university’s four schools were established, and 89 donors made gifts of $18.58 in honor of the year the university was founded.

“Our third Day of Giving was a huge success,” said Assistant Director of Development Rachel Shuck. “We are truly thankful for the donors that provided matching donations to use throughout the day. Because of their support, we were able to raise even more than we had hoped.”

Matching gifts were made by President’s Advisory Council member Tammy Spiva Hawks, ’72, Board of Trustee member Greg Stoskopf, ’86, and Board of Trustee member Scott, ’86, and his wife, Tammy (Carter) Grauer, ’87. In addition, the entire Baker University Executive Cabinet made gifts to Day of Giving.

“I continue to be filled with joy and optimism about what the Baker University community can achieve,” said President Lynne Murray. “On our Founders Day of Giving, the Baker family came together and made difference. I am thankful for all of the donors who gave back that day and for the commitment they show to Baker University.”
