Description
Book Signing & Reception | James Houston Turner, '69, Delta Tau Delta
Suspense novelist and Baker alumnus James Houston Turner will be at the Collins House to sign copies of his Ludlumesque thriller, Department Thirteen.
Turner earned a degree in religion then worked as a journalist in Los Angeles while also acting as a courier and smuggler, traveling behind the Iron Curtain. He was diagnosed with cancer in 1991. Unable to afford the treatment he needed in the United States, he and his wife traveled to Australia where James underwent multiple surgeries on his jaw.
Turner pursued a career as a published author, facing many rejections on his way to success. His time behind the Iron Curtain and his fight with cancer gave him the passion to pursue his dream.
