Baker splits doubleheader with Culver-StocktonAnnie Hannon

CANTON, Mo. - The Baker University softball team split its doublehader with Culver-Stockton College on Friday afternoon. BU won game one, 2-1 in 10 innings, and dropped the nightcap 10-1 in five innings.

Baker now sits at 9-13 overall and 1-3 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

Game one saw 10 innings of action, Baker's Annie Hannon (pictured) led the way offensively going 1-for-4 with two RBIs. Denfensively, Heather Gruber (7-5) was stellar. Gruber pitched 10 innings with 13 strikeouts while giving up one run on five hits.

The big inning killed the Wildcats in game two. Culver-Stockton scored eight runs in the bottom of the third inning, ultimately carrying CSU to victory. Brittany Vollenweider pitched 2.2 innings giving up four earned runs on eight hits. Brooke Allen led the way offensively going 1-for-3 with a stolen base.

Baker will be back in action Saturday afternoon when they travel to Marshall, Mo., to face Missouri Valley College (12-11, 0-0) at 1:00 p.m.
