Graduate School of Education commencement
Students carry flags at commencement representing the home countries of international students studying at Baker.
Students walk in the College of Arts and Sciences commencement procession, the same walk they took as incoming freshmen on Traditions Night when they entered campus through their class gate.
Baker University's class of 1891 began the tradition of naming itself and at graduation bequeathing its title to the incoming freshman class. The names of the four classes are Columbian Commonwealth, Senatus Romanus, King Arthur's Court and House of Hanover.

Information for GraduatesAnnouncements & Class RingsAll graduates may order announcements and class rings from Cap & GownGraduates and degree candidates who plan to participate in the commencement ceremony must place their cap and gown order online from Herff Jones. The following deadlines apply:
PhotographyA GradImages photographer will take photos of the graduates as they receive their diplomas. Register your email address and receive $5 off orders of $25 or more. If family members take personal photographs, they should avoid disrupting the flow of graduates as they return to their seats after receiving their diploma covers and should take care to not obscure the view of audience members and other commencement guests. Special NeedsSeating for guests in wheelchairs or for whom walking is difficult is available on a first-come, first-served basis. |
Detour | Please Note
US-56 will be closed between US-59 and Baldwin City until mid-October because of road construction. Please use the following detours.
From Wichita
- Take I-35 to the Ottawa exit (Exit 183).
- Proceed north on US-59, past US-56, to the N 650 Road exit.
- Go east on N 650 to the stop sign at 1055.
- Turn right on 1055, which becomes Sixth Street, as you enter Baldwin City.
- Continue south on Sixth Street, crossing the Highway 56 intersection at the stoplight.
- Harter Union (site of brunch) is three blocks south.
- Turn right on Dearborn.
- Collins Center is (site of graduation ceremony) four blocks south at 514 Sixth Street.
From Lawrence
- Take Highway 59 south to the N 650 Road exit.
- Go east on N 650 to the stop sign at 1055.
- Turn right on 1055, which becomes Sixth Street, as you enter Baldwin City.
- Continue south on Sixth Street, crossing the Highway 56 intersection at the stoplight.
