Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of President William H. Taft's visit to Baker University

Opening Convocation 2011

To mark the anniversary of President Taft's address on world peace, the Department of History, Culture and Society will present a program on Taft's presidency, the world situation at the turn of the 20th century and excerpts from his speech. The program will feature Leonard Ortiz, John Richards and the Baker University Speech Choir.

Music will be provided by the Baker University Brass Quintet and Baker University Concert Choir.

Remarks by Baker University President Patricia Long and Student Senate President Caleb Watts will kick off the 2011-2012 academic year.

Description

Built in 1955 and renovated in 1983, Rice Auditorium is the venue used by most of Baker’s visiting lecturers and performing artists. Rice is also the stage for Baker’s largest plays, performed and directed by the Theatre Department. The Music Department also utilizes Rice Auditorium to perform a variety of concerts. The auditorium, which seats approximately 880 people, is a great location that hosts a variety of intellectual and enjoyable events for students and the communities near Baldwin City. Rice Auditorium is handicap accessible.
