Chris Grubb Memorial Jazz Concert
“Kevin Mahogany, Baker alum and world-renowned jazz singer, is in residence at Baker University in Baldwin City, meeting with music classes, doing workshops, and rehearsing April 29, through May 3. A highlight of his week at Baker will be his appearance with the Baker Jazz Ensemble on Thursday, May 2, at 7:30 p.m. in Rice Auditorium. The concert is the annual Chris Grubb Memorial Scholarship Concert and Mahogany will be the guest artist this year singing several jazz standards with the Baker Jazz Ensemble, including Kansas City, I’ve Got You Under My Skin, Every Day I Have the Blues, and All Right, OK, You Win. The concert will feature several other big-band arrangements in addition to the international recording star’s portion of the program. Admission to the concert is free, although donations will be accepted that contribute toward the Chris Grubb Memorial Jazz Saxophone Scholarship at Baker University.”
