Bachelor's Degree in Studio Art

Art, Music, Theatre Day | Held Each Fall

Sit in on classes and studios, learn about available financial aid and immerse yourself in the arts at Baker. Learn more about Art, Music, Theatre Day.

Express Yourself

The visual arts are among the oldest, most universal and most fundamental expressions of human culture. As a studio art major, you will learn the techniques and forms that allow you to express yourself powerfully, artistically and visually.

Art students at Baker work in a stimulating environment in which aesthetic sensitivity, self awareness and confidence are developed together with skills in critical thinking and responsible risk taking.

Creativity & Experimentation

You will be introduced to various media and techniques within each medium. You will gain a general understanding of art through an historical perspective, providing you knowledge and inspiration that will help you grow as an artist.

As you find your niche, you will continue with more in-depth studies of a medium or media of your choice. You will have ample opportunity to work in Baker’s studio spaces to develop your skill.

Major & Minor

The Department of Mass Media and Visual Arts offers a major and minor in studio art. Students interested in the study of art may also look into art education and art history.

Courses required for these programs are listed in the current catalog.
