Our faculty are passionate about student success, and our alumni remain loyal to our students and assist them in their postgraduate endeavors.
The program focuses on the fundamentals of business and emphasizes problem solving and ethical and social responsibilities before moving on to global industry, trade and economics.
Internships & Hands-On Learning
Internships and other opportunities will be integral to your Baker experience. Our students have interned at national accounting firms, major corporations, professional sports teams and federal agencies. And many students study abroad for a semester or during an Interterm course over the winter.
Students pursue research opportunities and have presented their work at the Missouri Valley Economics Association. A group of students recently placed first in an entrepreneurship case analysis and presentation at the Midwest Decision Sciences Institute.
You will work alongside professors who have real-world experience in accounting, economics, law, entrepreneurship, marketing and international business. Our faculty will teach you the fundamentals of business so that you can apply those principles to real-life situations, culminating in Business Policy, the capstone course. You will research and analyze a real corporation before preparing a proposal for business improvement.
A solid liberal arts curriculum complements a well-rounded business program. You will learn how to learn, how to continue learning and how to adjust as society and industry change. You will leave Baker with the confidence to succeed in your first job and to adjust to subsequent professional pursuits.
The Department of Business and Economics is committed to excellence. The accounting, business and international business majors offered by the College of Arts and Sciences on the Baldwin City campus are fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).
