In addition to the professional education requirements, students pursuing licensure in the field of art (preK-12) must complete the following courses with a grade of C or better:
10 Hours in Art Education
- AE 110 Visual Language, 3 hours
- AE 380 Art in the Elementary Classroom (Methods), 3 hours
- AE 480 Secondary Art Education (Methods), 3 hours
- AE 496 Portfolio and Exhibition, 1 hour
12 Hours in Art History
- AH 111 Survey of Art History, 3 hours
- AH 495 Writing About Art, 3 hours
- AH 347 Art of the 20th Century and Beyond (1920-Present), 3 hours
- 3 hours of Art History courses numbered 300 or above
24 Hours in Studio Art
- AS 120 Drawing I, 3 hours
- AS 121 Painting I, 3 hours
- AS 122 Printmaking I OR AS 170 Photography I, 3 hours
- AS 130 Ceramics I, 3 hours
- AS 132 Sculpture I, 3 hours
- 9 additional hours of Studio Art courses numbered 300 or above, which includes all advanced and/or prerequisite courses.
