In addition to the professional education requirements, students pursuing licensure in the field of science for the middle level (5-8) must complete the following courses with a grade of C or better:
- BI 151 Intro to Molecular and Cellular Biology, 4 hours
- BI 246 Human Anatomy and Physiology I, 4 hours
- BI 251 Intro to Ecological and Organismal Biology, 4 hours
- CH 120 Basic Chemistry (if not taken in high school), 3 hours
- CH 137 General Chemistry I, 4 hours
- ED 348 Methods for Teaching Elementary and Middle School Science, 3 hours
- ED 409 Teaching Middle Level Learners, 3 hours
- GE 210 General Geology, 3 hours
- PC 140 Astronomy, 3 hours
- PC 125 Introductory Physics I, 4 hours OR PC 225 General Physics, 4 hours
- MA 145 College Algebra, 3 hours OR MA 171 Calculus I, 4 hours
- One 300-level course with lab, 4 hours
