Paul Eltschinger, 2013, discusses his experiences and opportunities as a music major with Dr. Matthew Potterton, Director of Choral Activities.

During past Interterms, the band has performed in England, Taiwan, Korea and Japan.

Baker students can participate in a variety of vocal and instrumental ensembles, workshops, recitals and tours.
Baker Music students have all the advantages an intimate, small college environment affords plus the performance opportunities of much larger schools.
The ability to offer students a wide range of musical experience makes Baker’s music program truly unique.
The student experience in the music program at Baker extends far beyond the classroom, even around the globe.
Recently, the Chamber Choir performed in California. Baker ensembles have also performed in England, Ireland and Italy.

The Baker String Orchestra, Symphonic Orchestra, and Symphonic Winds join together to provide a concert with excellent music! They will play works by J.S. Bach, Aaron Copland, Frank Ticheli, Robert Sheldon, and more! The concert is free and open to the public.

Description

Built in 1955 and renovated in 1983, Rice Auditorium is the venue used by most of Baker’s visiting lecturers and performing artists. Rice is also the stage for Baker’s largest plays, performed and directed by the Theatre Department. The Music Department also utilizes Rice Auditorium to perform a variety of concerts. The auditorium, which seats approximately 880 people, is a great location that hosts a variety of intellectual and enjoyable events for students and the communities near Baldwin City. Rice Auditorium is handicap accessible.
