Meet my home town: Newcastle, NSW, Australia

I'm from Newcastle, a ripper place on the coast of south eastern New South Wales, about 100 miles north of Sydney. We refer to ourselves as Novocastrians. Others think of Novocastrians as working class, due to our long history of steelworking. We don't care. We just walk down to any one of our spectacular beaches, all within walking distance from anywhere in the city, and let 'em think what they like. We also have a rather spectacular harbour in Newcastle, which is often home to many ships from around the world. It also provides an excellent foreshore that we use to walk along, ride along, or sit at any number of outdoor cafes where we might sip a beer or eat a prawn. (Nope, we rarely barbeque 'em, and we NEVER call 'em shrimp. And we certainly don't drink Fosters, which is NOT Australian for beer, it's Victorian for beer. We in New South Wales drink Tooheys.)

We also have some extremely nice gardens and the odd memorial or two, since many a Novocastrian fought in the wars. I'd tell you more, but you know, it just makes me homesick. Mmm, let's see. Yes, we do have plastic money. The 5, 10, and 20 dollars notes are all plastic now. We have $1 and $2 coins as well as 50, 20, 10, 5, 2 and 1 cent coins. Need to know more? email me and I'll do my best to convince you that Newcastle is indeed the best place on earth. Bar none.
