The MLA portfolio has three basic requirements.
1. A precourse survey.
2. Six artifacts--one from each of your core courses. You can add two additional papers if you like. Include an inclusion form with each artifact
3. A final survey, including a two-page paper that ties together your work in the program.
Each form is available
as a word document from this site. Download the word document and complete each form
for easy inclusion in your paper portfolio. Or, adapt the document for inclusion in your
electronic portfolio.
A capstone project may be arranged as an option for completion of the
last three elective credits in the MLA program requirements. Capstone
projects must be approved by the Director of Student Servies, the faculty member, and the Dean,
to assure compliance with degree plan, academic credibility, and administrative approval.
The capstone project is similar to an independent study. The purpose of
the final project is to integrate the thinking that has evolved through completion of
the MLA course work and relate it ot professional and community activities. Examples
of capstone project formats are:
- A philsophical essay on a relevant issue.
- An original research project involving interviews or questionnaires.
- An extensive research paper.
- Other formats approved by the Dean and supervising faculty member.
Regardless of the format selected, the project must be submitted in its entirity to be maintained by
Baker university.
