Alumni News (Classes Before 2000)

Mitch Bartley (BU Class of 1998) has decided to make a career change.  Mitch was just accepted into medical school at DeBusk School of Osteopathic Medicine for the fall term, 2007.  DeBusk is part of Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee. 

Class of May 2008

Scott Akers has been accepted into Medical School at the KCUMB for the fall of 2008.

Class of May 2007 (and others)

Aaron Craig was accepted into Medical School at Rocky Vista University in Colorado for the fall of 2008.  He has two other applications pending as well.  Congratulations Aaron.  Aaron and his wife also have a new son - lots of good news for this family!

Scott Driver has completed his first semester of dental school at UMKC this fall (2007). I ran into Scott at the December graduation ceremony and he reports that it went well and that Biochem at Baker had him well prepared!

Bliss Hartnett has completed her first semester of Medical School at the University of Kansas this fall (2007).

Kendra Morrison has completed her first semester in the PharmD program at the University of Kansas this fall (2007).

Adrian Salazar has been accepted into medical school at KCUMB for the fall term 2008.

Class of December 2006

Tommy Griffin has completed his first semester in Dental School at the University of Oklahoma (Fall 2007). Tommy got married in the summer of 2007 - Congratulations!

Class of May 2006

Emily Allred has now finished her third semester of Medical School at KU (fall 2007).

Preston Edwards is attending Logan Chiropractic College.

Stacie Garland has now finished her first semester of Medical School at KU (fall 2007). I saw Stacie at the Pre-Med advisors workshop (along with Megan Jones and Luke Thompson).  They were all still smiling and report that they like what they are doing!

Rachel Tindall was accepted in the early admission round for medical school at KU.  She has now finished semester #1.  Rachel came 'home' to BU in February 2007 to be part of an alumni panel on medical school - the admissions process.  Thank-you Rachel!

Melissa Torkelson Hoar almost done with her masters program for Health Care Administration at the Univ. of Oklahoma. She and Steele have moved to Jenks.

Class of May 2005

Jen Baum was accepted into a Physician Assistant master's degree program at Union for the fall of 2005. She is finishing up her studies now.

Ashley Farmer was accepted into a Physician Assistant program at Methodist University in Fayetteville, North Carolina for the fall of 2008.  She has three additional interviews in January.  Congratulations Ashley!

Kevin Fitzgerald was accepted into Cleveland Chiropractic college for the fall of 2005.  Kevin is married to fellow Baker graduate Megan Dailey. I saw Kevin and Megan at a wedding in October of 2006.  Both are doing well - Megan has finished her Master's in Psychology and Kevin is enjoying this program at CCC.

Megan Jones has now finished her first semester of Medical School at KU (fall 2007).

Trevor Potts is studying in the PharmD program at the University of Kansas.  He started in the fall of 2006. Trevor is married to fellow Baker graduate Nichole Kennedy. Trevor and Nichole just welcomed their first child in 2008 - Congratulations!

Beth Rinck was accepted into UMKC Dental School for the fall 2005. She has five semesters behind her now!  WOOHOO!

Erin Robinson was accepted into KCUMB for medical school for the fall 2008. Way to go Erin!

Cory Shoaf was accepted into Kansas State University School of Veterinary Medicine for the fall of 2006. Cory is now done with her third semester - almost half way!

Gerrad Speer was accepted into Cleveland Chiropractic college for the fall 2005. I talked to Gerrad in June 2007 - all is going well for him. 

Luke Thompson has now finished his first semester of Medical School at KU (fall 2007).

Class of May 2004 (and others)

Kallie Bechtold was accepted into the University of Kansas School of Medicine for the fall 2005. Kallie came back to BU in February 2007 to be part of an alumni panel on med school.  Thanks Kallie!

Kimberly Carter has now finished her first semester of Medical School at KU (fall 2007).

Lindsey Christian was accepted to Dental School at UMKC for the fall of 2004. 

Mark Foland was accepted into the University of Kansas School of Medicine and Creighton University School of Medicine for the fall of 2005.  Mark is attending KUMed.  Mark and Rebecca (nee Steinle) were married in June 2006. Mark came back to BU in February 2007 to help with an alumni panel on med school.  Thank-you Mark!   Joshua Max Foland was born on October 28, 2007.  Congratulations to Mark and Rebecca and WELCOME to the WORLD Joshua!

Jon Humiston was accepted into Wichita State University where he will pursue his doctorate in Physical Therapy.  I saw Jon at BU commencement on December 16, 2007.  He is enjoying his clincals.

Aaron Meggison was accepted to Medical School at the University of Kansas for the fall 2004 in the early decision round.  Aaron will graduate this May and move on to his residency!  WOOHOO!

Amelia Stewart was accepted to a Physicians Assistant Program at Barry University in Florida for the fall 2005.

Alison Winkelman was accepted into the PharmD program at KU med.  She entered in the fall of 2004. Alison came back to Baker in February 2007 for a student panel.  She is doing well in the program.  Thanks for coming Alison!

Class of December 2003

Amber Burklund Befort has completed her Doctoral Degree Program in Physical Therapy at Wichita State University and she passed her boards in July of 2008. Amber is practicing at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan, KS.  She and her husband Justin live in Riley where they are the proud owners of their first home!  Congratulations Amber on passing those boards! 

Class of May 2003

Kristi Anspaugh Manion was accepted to Medical School at KCUMB for the fall 2005.

Jason Bessey was accepted to Medical School at KCUMB for the fall 2004.

Blair Edgington was accepted to Dental School at UMKC for the fall of 2004. Blair sent me a book "The Jane Austen Book Club" recently.  It is so neat to be at Baker as my student's get to know me and let me know they are thinking about this place!  Thank-you Blair!

Josh Feeney was accepted into a Ph.D. program in Physical Therapy in St. Ambrose, Iowa.

Kristin Perkins was accepted into a master's level Physical Therapy program at Rockhurst University for the fall 2005.

Amanda Sherck was accepted into Veterinary Medical School at Kansas State University for the fall of 2005.

Stephanie Straub was accepted to Dental School at UMKC for the fall of 2003.  

Class of May 2002

Jess Fisher is part of the Medical Airborn Team for the US Army.

Diana Sylvester Keiling was accepted into a Physicians Assistants master's degree program at Samuel Merritt in California.  She and husband Jeremy Keiling (Baker's 3:2 Engineering Program Grad) are living in sunny southern CA!

Kyle Parks completed his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at the US Army-Baylor University program in December of 2006.  Kyle is a Captain in the Army and is practicing PT at Fort Riley, Kansas after being deployed to Iraq for a time.  Welcome Home Kyle!  Kyle married Kathy Sobba (BU, 2002) in July of 2003. 

Kelli Regier completed her doctorate in optometry at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee.  Kelli has returned to Kansas to start her practice.

Angie Miller Waples completed her masters in the Physicians Assistants program at the University of Oklahoma. Angie and Ethan Waples were married on July 30, 2005!  I saw Ethan and Angie at a BU wedding in June 2007.  Ethan - good luck with your dissertation! 

Kenny Taylor completed his PharmD at KU School of Pharmacy in May 2006. Kenny and Kim Freeman got married this past summer!  Congratulations to them.

Class of December 2001

Jen Elkins Proctor completed the P.A. Program at Wichita State University. Pete and Jen have moved to Overland Park where she is practicing. Jen and Pete are expecting Baby Boy Proctor in 2006!

Class of May 2001

Brett Meggison graduated from the  KU Medical School in May 2005.  Brett earned both the Merck Manual Award for outstanding scholastic achievement and the Norman L. Martin Award for excellence in Radiology.  Brett will do his residency in Radiology in Kansas City.

Daisy Burns is studying veterinary medicine at the Western University for Health Sciences in California.

Julie Humphries graduated from the Dental School at the University of Nebraska in May 2005. Julie did her residency in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and is now back in the KC area practicing dentistry. 

Hilary Peacock Austin completed her degree in dental hygiene program at UMKC in May 2003. Hilary is practicing in Springfield, Missouri. Hilary is also a proud new Mom!  Click on her name to see a picture of Zachary!

Ashley Ranallo Thomann has completed her Masters in the P.A. Program at the University of Oklahoma. She has accepted a job as a PA with an orthopedic surgeon in Richardson, Texas.  Ashley and her husband Brian and their puppy are all well - and there is a new edition to their family!  Brady Joe Thomann was born on May 22, 2007!  Congratulations Brian and Ashley!

Len Sapp wrote to me at Christmas time 2007.  He has completed his PharmD degree at UMKC as of May 2007.  Len and his family live in Overland Park where he is a practicing pharmacist.  He and his wife happily celebrated Christmas this season with their 20-month-old son Dylan.  Len, congratulations! 

Kami Warden Linnens completed her DVM at K-State Veterinary Medical School in May 2006.

Hilary, Ashley, Len and Kami got married in 2003! Congratulations to all!

Class of December 2000

Marty Schroeder graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic College with her DC degree. Marty has opened her own clinic, Schroeder Chiropractic, in Harrisonville, Missouri. 

Class of May 2000

Kelly Bovaird completed her degree in dentistry at UMKC in May 2006. Kelly was married this past year.  Ira DeSpain proudly reports that now he will have performed the marriage ceremonies of all four Bovaird kids!

Amy Cink completed her DVM degree at K-State Veterinary Medical School in May 2005 and Dr. Cal Cink is super proud!  Amy moved to Pennsylvania in July 2005 to start her practice.

 Mike Leffler-McCabe graduated from KU Medical School in May of 2006. His residency takes Mike and his wife Laura Leffler-McCabe to  Minnesota where Mike will pursue a career in Neurology.

Dru Nichols graduated from KU Medical School in May of 2006. His residency will take him to Colorado where he will pursue Family Medicine.

Jeremy Presley is studying medicine at KU Medical School.

Genny Randall  completed her internship at KU Medical School.  Genny and Kevin have moved to Oregon where she will complete her residency.
