UNIVERSITY Dr. Sandra Schumm Interterm Conversational Spanish in Seville (Experiential Learning) COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is intended for students with little or no experience in Spanish and gives students the opportunity to immerse themselves in the Spanish language and culture for 3 weks. Students study grammar and converse in Spanish in small classes using the "communicative method." Living with Spanish families gives tudents the opportunity to practice the Spanish they have studied and learn more about Spanish culture. An important part of the course includes cultural activities outside of the classroom during the afternoons and weekends. There is no prerequisite for students taking the course as an Experiential Learning class. CREDIT AWARDED: 3 credits COURSE
REQUIREMENTS:
GRADING: Pass or no credit. Students must achieve a minimum of 60% to pass the course. Interterm Spanish in Seville (250/450) COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is intended for students with previous Spanish and gives students the opportunity to immerse themselves in the Spanish language and culture and refine their skills in Spanish for 3 weeks. Students study grammar and converse in Spanish in small classes using the "communicative method." Living with Spanish families gives students the opportunity to practice the Spanish they have studied and learn more about Spanish culture. An important part of the course includes cultural activities outside of the classroom during the afternoons and weekends. The prerequisite for SP 250 is SP 142 or consent of the instructor, and the prerequisite for SP 450 is SP 244 or consent of the instructor. (Students are place in different level classes at Lenguaviva based upon their achievement on a placement test and on their previous experience in Spanish.) COURSE

| Saturday, January 4 | Leave KCI for Seville. | |
| Sunday, January 5 | Arrive Seville, go to Spanish family homes. | |
| Monday, January 6 | Seville orientation tour | |
| Tuesday, January 7- Friday, Jan. 10 | Classes 9:30 to 1:00, afternoon activities. | |
| Saturday, January 11- Sunday, Jan. 12 | Trip to Granada. | |
| Monday, January 13 - Friday, Jan. 17 | Classes 9:30 to 1:00, afternoon activities. | |
| Saturday, January 18 | Trip to Córboba. | |
| Sunday, January 19 | Trip to Cádiz. | |
| Monday, January 20-Friday, Jan. 24 | Classes 9:30 to 1:00, afternoon activities. | |
| Saturday, January 25 | Leave Seville and arrrive in KCI in PM | |
| While in Seville, you will want to visit many places in the afternoons after classes. Some of the most interesting are: the Torre de Oro, the Plaza de Toros, the Casa de Pilatos, the Bellas Artes Museum, the Barrio de Santa Cruz, the Ayuntamiento, the Cathedral and the Giralda, the Casco Antiguo the convent of Santa Paula, the Park of María Luisa and the Plaza de España--and much more.
