Prefestival Concert Band Clinic

Annual Prefestival Concert Band Clinic

Thursday, April 2, 2015 | Rice Auditorium

Baker University will provide a festival-type performance experience and clinic for school bands. Ensembles will be adjudicated (comments only, no rating) by two clinicians who will provide both recorded and written comments. Following the performance, each band will have an on-stage clinic with the adjudicators.

Adjudicators

  • Prof. Mark Doerffel, Director of Bands, Grand View University, Des Moines, Iowa
  • Dr. Marion Roberts, Retired Director of Bands, Baker University, Baldwin City, Kan.

Each band will have a total of 45 minutes to set up, perform two selections, and have a clinic and rehearsal with the clinicians. Please provide two copies of each of your festival scores for the clinicians. No ratings will be given. Because this is a nonrated festival, KSHSAA considers this an academic field trip, which does not require that all members of the band comply with KSHSAA eligibility rules.

Baker University will provide all large percussion equipment. Please let me know of special needs that you might have in this area.

Students staying through lunch may choose to eat on campus in our cafeteria ($8) or in off-campus restaurants (a list will be provided upon request).

Fee

$65 per school
