Dr. David G. Sears
Graduate of Shawnee Mission East High School, where he earned six letters in football, basketball and track.
Earned 12 athletic letters while at Baker.
Football—four letters, 1963-65. Team captain two years 1965 and 1966.
Baseball—three letters, 1964-66. Captain his senior year.
Track—one letter as a freshman.
Member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity.
Served as class president both as a freshman and a sophomore.
Member of the B-Club, 1962-66.
Winner of the Goetz Athletic Trophy. 1964 and 1965.
Baker Athlete of the Year as a sophomore and junior.
Member of Alpha Delta Sigma—majoring in both physical education and art.
Played on the U.S. Navy Football Team in 1968 at Pensacola, Fla.
Earned the Masters of Science Degree from Pittsburg University in 1967 and Ph.D. from the University of Kansas in 1975.
Taught and coached at Kansas Wesleyan University, The University of Kansas, Baker University, and Lewis-Clark State College.
At Baker he served as assistant football and basketball coach, and head baseball coach from 1969 to 1975. His overall record in baseball is 55 wins, 48 losses, including taking his team to the NAIA District 10 Playoffs in 1973.
Active in numerous committees and professional organizations, and in research and development in his profession.
