Hall of Fame

Written by

Hall of Fame

Founded in 1977, the Baker University Athletic Hall of Fame is one of the oldest athletic halls of fame in Kansas. The Baker Athletic Hall of Fame and induction procedure have been used as a model by other colleges who want to preserve their sports tradition and history.

More than 100 men and women have been selected from thousands of former athletes for this honor. These inductees represent nearly every sport played at Baker from nearly all eras of competition. Inductees have been members of professional sport teams, successful coaches and meritorious contributors to the University's athletic programs and to their communities.

Mission Statement

Baker Athletics: The Roadmap to Success

 VISION

“Champions for Life.” Every decision made by Baker Athletics represents our commitment to preparing student-athletes for success in the classroom, on the field of competition, and for life beyond intercollegiate athletics.

Baker University Athletics cultivates an environment in which student-athletes are inspired to reach for their highest aspirations athletically, personally, and professionally. Administrators and coaches provide first-class leadership and instruction to allow student-athletes to reach their full potential.

MISSION STATEMENT

Baker University Athletics is dedicated to graduating champions for life by developing leaders through competition, academic achievement, diversity, and community service in the pursuit of personal excellence.

CORE VALUES

· Courage – Displaying strength in adversity

· Integrity – Honoring your word

· Respect – Valuing others

· Responsibility – Demonstrating accountability

PHILOSOPHY

Baker University Athletics promotes excellence in all aspects of athletics without compromising its integrity in adhering to the rules of the Heart of America Athletic Conference and the NAIA.

We believe that athletics is the vehicle that equips our student-athletes with essential traits that will aid in their overall personal development. Athletics is an active learning tool that can develop discipline, and establish the ability to handle adversity.

We believe that it is imperative for our student-athletes to develop life balance. We promote a well-rounded approach to education and competition. We encourage our student-athletes to actively engage in our university and community.

We believe in the value of education. Degree completion is a priority for all of our student-athletes. We know that this goal can be achieved by cultivating focus and a strong work ethic.

We believe in pursuing championship excellence in all of our intercollegiate programs. We compete at a high level and expect results. We also believe that it is important to celebrate our victories and be humble in defeat. We respect our opponents and their efforts.

We believe in servant leadership and community service. It is our responsibility to look beyond the university walls and be mindful of the struggles of others. Our student-athletes have the ability to exert their influence in positive ways that will make a difference.

We believe in creating an inclusive environment that actively supports the engagement of diversity of thought and culture. We appreciate our student-athletes for their talents and individuality. We prioritize the health and welfare of our student-athletes.

We believe that our student-athletes are always ambassadors of Baker University Athletics. As such, we expect our student-athletes to hold themselves accountable in all of their actions.

TRADITION

The family atmosphere within Baker Athletics provides the foundation for continued engagement with the university as former student-athletes and alumni. We take great pride in the successes of those individuals who have come before us and our long-standing tradition. We constantly aspire to honor their memory and build on their accomplishments. We stand together observing a consistency of values, beliefs, and principles.

Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat!
