Education & Professional History
Lisa Jackson earned her Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance with distinction from the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester and her Master of Music degree in violin performance from the University of Akron. Her primary teachers were Catherine Tait, Alan Bodman, and Denisse Dechario.
Ms. Jackson won a national audition for a first violin position in the Tulsa Philharmonic Orchestra, a position she held for nine years, eventually winning the position of assistant concertmaster. She served as associate concertmaster of Tulsa Opera for four years until moving to Kansas City. She was appointed a full-time contract for the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons in the first violin section of the Kansas City Symphony. She has been a regular substitute in the Kansas City Symphony since 1999 and has performed with Glimmerglass Opera in Cooperstown, New York, and Lyric Opera of Kansas City. Additionally she has been concertmaster of the Wichita Grand Opera and the Heidelberg Schloss-Spiele in Heidelberg, Germany. She has played with the Kansas City Chamber Orchestra since 2008.
Ms. Jackson has been teaching privately since 1991. During 2012-13 she held a one-year appointment in violin at the University of Kansas. She has held teaching positions at Camp Encore/Coda in Maine, SummerArts in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Heartland Chamber Music Camp in Kansas City, Missouri, and has coached at Blue Valley North High School in Overland Park, Kansas, since 2010.
