Position: Head Women's Soccer Coach
Davy Phillips has been the head women's soccer coach at Baker University since March of 2014 and was the assistant coach for the men's program from 2008 to 2013 and the assistant coach for the women's program beginning in 2009. Phillips was promoted to associate head coach following the 2010 women's final four season and is a full-time member of the athletics staff.
In his first season as head coach of the women's program, Baker finished 11-5-2 and tied for second-place with Missouri Valley in the regular season standings of the Heart of America Athletic Conference with a record of 4-2. Baker posted four Heart All-Conference Players and Shelby Schiraldi became the first female athlete in Baker Athletics history to be named a four-time NAIA All-American.
Under Coach Phillips' leadership, both programs are perennial fixtures in the NAIA Top 25. The men's program reached the NAIA Sweet Sixteen in 2008 and the NAIA national semifinals in 2011. On the women's side, under his leadership Baker has reached the NAIA National Tournament semifinals in 2010, the NAIA national quarterfinals in 2011 and last season they advanced to the NAIA final site in Gulf Shores, Ala. Before coaching at Baker, Davy was previously an assistant coach for the men's and women's programs at California State University at San Marcos.
Phillips graduated with a B.A. in History and Political Science from Baker. He also earned his Master of Liberal Arts degree from Baker. As a player, he was elected captain for his junior and senior seasons and was a three-time all-conference and two-time all-region performer. The Wildcats won two HAAC Championships, two Region V Championships, and made three NAIA National Tournament appearances. For his playing contributions, Davy was awarded a place in Baker's "All-Time Starting 11" in 2009.
Phillips holds a NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and resides in Olathe, Kan., with his wife Brianne.
