I spent 15 years in television news as a reporter, producer, executive producer and managing editor. My television work was nominated for four Emmy awards, and I won the award twice. After leaving TV I worked in media relations for four years for an organization in Cleveland, Ohio.
While working on my master's degree at the University of Akron I was asked to teach a class, and it changed my life. That steered me into academia and my current role at Baker. In addition to advising the campus radio and television stations, I teach a variety of broadcasting courses, public relations courses, mass media theory, mass media research methods and senior seminar.
My research interests include broadcast news, media effects on society, media portrayals of minorities, and global media systems.
