Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership

Our Ed.D. in Educational Leadership program prepares K-12 educators for administrative positions that require district-level licensure and for leadership positions in a variety of other K-16 educational organizations.

The Ed.D. program is built on five fundamental strands:

Program objectives are closely aligned with Kansas State Department of Education and the Interstate Leadership Licensure Consortium standards for district leadership.

Ed.D. Program Features

Accelerated Classes

  • Our Ed.D. program fits the demanding schedules of adult educators.
  • Doctoral classes meet from 6 to10 p.m. one night a week for seven or eight weeks.

Restricted Licensure

Enter the teaching field while taking courses toward your initial teaching license.

The Restricted Licensure program allows professionals with an undergraduate degree in a specific content area or the equivalent content hours within that degree to teach at the secondary level (grades 6-12) or preK-12 for art, foreign language, music and physical education.

Program Highlights

  • Two-year program
  • 27 hours of coursework, both on-ground and online courses
  • Teach in Kansas while completing education courses
  • Become eligible for a Kansas Initial Teaching License upon completion of program requirements

Master of Science in Teaching Opportunity

Students who complete the Restricted Licensure program can take an additional 15 hours of graduate coursework to obtain a Master of Science in Teaching.

Building-Level Licensure

The option of building-level licensure only provides an opportunity for teachers in Kansas who already have a master’s degree and at least three years of teaching experience to complete additional coursework and become a school administrator.
