1.     How to find information about companies:

                                                                               

Start at the Collins Library Home Page:

 

Mouse over:

Search

 

 

Click on:

Electronic Databases

 

The databases are listed by subject on the left side, and in alphabetical order on the right side.

 

Scroll down and click on:

Business Source Elite

 

 

At the opening screen, click on the tab,:

Company Profiles

 

 

 

Type in the name of your company in the “Browse for” box.

 

Click on:

Browse

 

 

Click on:

Sprint Corporation

 

This screen gives a brief overview of the company.

 

Click on:

PDF Complete Report

 

Datamonitor is a British corporation that supplies analyses of companies.

 

This is the first page of a 34 page report.

 

Click on any of the chapter heading in the left frame to bring up that portion of the report.

 

 

 

 

The SWOT analysis is an excellent resource.

2.     How to find articles on a topic.

The topic is: What is the productivity and morale of employees that telecommute?

 

Click on the

Advanced Search

tab.

 

Type your topics into the boxes in the left column:

Line 1. Telecommuting

Click on:

Search

 

 

There are 131 results.

 

Click on:

Scholarly Journals

to eliminate the magazines and trade publications.

 

The results are down to 16 articles.

 

 

 

 

65% - 70% of the articles will provide the full text of the article.

 

It will be available either in HTML, or in PDF.

 

 

PDF looks just like the original printed page.

 

 

PDF even includes the graphic elements, just as they were in the original printed page.

 

HTML is a recreation of the original printed page. Sometimes the graphic elements will not be included.
