  • Trial Databases February
    The library has been granted trial access to a series of databases until the end of February: The trial databases can be accessed via the library databases page (http://www.bakeru.edu/library/edatahome.php), using the subject category links (look at the category they are listed under in the list below). If you have any questions, would like training, or have seen databases which you would to try on campus, please do not hesitate to contact me.
    • Reference/Multi-disciplinary
      • Creedo Reference combines over 450 reference titles into one powerful database. In addition to searching and browsing the collection as a whole or title by title, the database ties to an institutions library resources to create a customized search interface for each subscribing institution. The collection provides an excellent collection of images, music, videos, and other multimedia formats. Also, Creedo Reference provides conceptual mapping capabilities to show the connections of a search topic to other topics and other reference resources.
    • Business
      • Morningstar Investment Research Center is an all-inclusive investment research database designed specifically for libraries. It features data and analysis on over 11,000 international and domestic stocks, 30,000 mutual funds, and more than 800 exchange traded funds. Plus, the database boasts a comprehensive Help and Education Center, Portfolio X-Ray and robust screening tools.
      • ProQuest Entrepreneurship is a unique and powerful database collection which gives users access to an unprecedented collection of products: Includes company profiles, video clips, market research reports, business start-up plans with templates, journal articles, business case studies, conference proceedings, and dissertations.
      • MarketLine is a comprehensive and unique collection of company, industry and country information, extending across 200+ countries and every major industry sector. Updated on a daily basis, this is a dynamic access point to the world of market intelligence.
    • Language
      • Powerspeak Languages provide introductory lessons for German, French, Spanish, and Mandarin.

      • African American Music Reference brings together reference, biographies, chronologies, sheet music, images, lyrics, liner notes, and discographies which chronicle the diverse history and culture of the African American experience through music. The database provides resources related to blues, jazz, spirituals, civil rights songs, slave songs, minstrelsy, rhythm and blues, gospel, and other forms of black American musical expression.
      • American Song is a history database that allows people to hear and feel the music from America's past. The database includes songs by and about American Indians, miners, immigrants, slaves, children, pioneers, and cowboys. Included in the database are the songs of Civil Rights, political campaigns, Prohibition, the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, anti-war protests, and more.
      • Classical Music Reference Library contains essential reference materials, spanning the entire history of Western classical music and provides comprehensive coverage of all classical genres, spanning music from the Medieval period to the 21st century.
      • Classical Scores Library contains classical scores from both in-copyright and public domain editions. The major composers output is represented, as well as many lesser known composers and works. The database enables users to search on musically relevant fields, such as composer, work/opus number, key, genre, instrument, time period; as well as score-specific fields, such as score type, duration, editor, arranger, publisher.
      • Contemporary World Music delivers the sounds of all regions from every continent. Users can trace the history of a people's music by comparing the traditional styles with the modern interpretations offered in this database.
      • Dance in Video contains dance productions and documentaries by the most influential performers and companies of the 20th century. Selections cover ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, experimental, and improvisational dance, as well as forerunners of the forms and the pioneers of modern concert dance.
      • Jazz Music Library is a comprehensive collection of jazz — with thousands of jazz artists, ensembles, albums, and genres.
      • Opera in Video contains staged productions, interviews, and documentaries related to the most commonly studied operas in music history, opera literature, and performance classes.
      • Smithsonian Global Sound For Libraries provides a virtual encyclopedia of the world's musical and aural traditions. The collection provides educators, students, and interested listeners with an unprecedented variety of online resources that support the creation, continuity, and preservation of diverse musical forms.
      • The Garland Encyclopedia of World Music contains an overview of global regions, including musical heritage, traditions and themes; and a description of specific musical genres, practices, and performances.
