University ranked in U.S. News and World Report

Baldwin City, Kan. — U.S. News and World Report has listed Baker University as one of the top-ranked private liberal arts colleges in Kansas in its 2010 America’s Best Colleges rankings.

“Our priority is providing the highest quality education and service for students,” Baker President Pat Long said. “We continue to deliver on our promise: academic excellence that is stronger than ever and student engagement in a respectful, inviting learning community.”

The magazine defines a liberal arts college as an institution emphasizing undergraduate education and awarding at least half its degrees in the arts and sciences. Data for the rankings was collected from Baker’s Baldwin City campus.

The ranking includes peer assessment, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, alumni giving and graduation rate performance. The magazine collects its data from the colleges and several other sources.

Baker University is committed to assuring student learning, and developing confident, competent and responsible contributors to society.
