Senior to receive Major of the Year Award

Baldwin City, Kan. — Mack Brown, a senior from Liberty, Mo., will receive on Thursday, Oct. 29, the Kansas Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance Major of the Year award representing Baker University’s Department of Health, Sport, and Human Performance. The award will be given at Pittsburg State University during a banquet held in conjunction with KAHPERD’s annual convention.

Brown is pursuing a Bachelors of Science degree in teaching health and physical education. He was named a 2009 Mildred Hunt Riddle Scholar in Health, Sport, and Human Performance.

Brown, a four-year starter at quarterback and team captain on Baker’s football team, holds 15 school records. His honors include: football team most valuable offensive player; NAIA Region V scholar-athlete; NAIA academic All-American; Heart of America Athletic Conference first-team quarterback; and Champions of Character Award — 2008 NAIA football playoffs.

Brown, a regular on Baker University’s dean’s list, is the son of Sam and Cindy Brown of Liberty, Mo.
