NEWS RELEASE University to host honor band festivalBaldwin City, Kan. — Baker University will be host its 12th annual honor band festival for area high school musicians on Thursday, Feb. 11, concluding with a free concert at 7 p.m. at Rice Auditorium on the Baldwin City campus. Outstanding band members from Atchison, Baldwin City, Bonner Springs, Burlington, De Soto, Jayhawk-Linn, Jefferson West, Jetmore, Olathe Northwest, Osawatomie, Ottawa, St. Marys, St. Thomas Aquinas and Wellsville high schools will attend the festival. Gregory J. Torres, director of bands at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, La., will lead the musicians throughout the festival. The evening concert will feature the Baker University Symphonic Winds under the baton of Raymond James Jr., director of bands at Baker University, and the High School Honor Band, directed by Torres. ###
