Tornado drill for March 9 canceled
Baldwin City, Kan. — Citing the threat of actual severe weather Tuesday, the National Weather Service in Kansas has canceled the statewide tornado drill scheduled for March 9. Baker University will also cancel its tornado drill for the Baldwin City campus that day.
The statewide drill is rescheduled for Thursday, March 11, and tornado sirens are expected to sound at 1:30 p.m. Baker University plans to test its B-Alert Safety Notification System on that day.
Baker students, faculty and staff are encouraged to be aware of the designated storm shelter areas in each building. If the designated area is unknown, go to the basement or interior walls of the lower floors.
Listed below are the designated shelter areas by building:
Bennett Art: relocate to Mulvane Hall — basement interior hallways near classrooms
Case Hall: basement hallway
Osborne Chapel: lower level
Collins Center: hallway areas — preferably north and racquetball courts
Constant Hall: lower level — west end of hallway
Harter Union: basement
Health Center: relocate to Collins Gym
Library: basement hallway — north and south
Mabee Hall: ground floor — interior hallway, west of weight room
Mulvane: basement — interior hallways near classrooms
Owens Musical Arts Building: basement — interior hallway
Rice Auditorium: main floor — under balcony
Parmenter Hall: basement – interior hallway
