Symphonic Winds and Orchestra Concert set for Tuesday

Baldwin City, Kan. — The Baker University Symphonic Winds and Orchestra Concert will be at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 16 at Rice Auditorium.Baker-1134

The orchestra will open the concert with “Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 54” (Movement I) by Robert Schumann with senior piano soloist Adrienne Barclay of Lawrence and “Bacchanale” from “Samson and Delilah” by Camille Saint Sanes. Lori McKinney, instructor of music, will be the conductor.

The Symphonic Winds will perform “Prelude and Rondo” by David Holsinger; “The Last Spring” by Grieg/Borlawsky with senior Judy Erpelding as guest conductor; “Bullets and Bayonets” by John Philip Sousa; “Nessun Dorma” from Turando by Puccini/Ricketts with guest tenor soloist, Mattew Potterton, director of choral activities; and “Gershwin,” a medley arranged by Warren Barker. Raymond James Jr., director of bands, will be the conductor.
