80th annual Christmas Candlelight Vespers set for Dec. 5

Baldwin City, Kan. — Baker University’s Department of Music will celebrate the 80th Annual Christmas Candlelight Vespers with performances at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 5, at First United Methodist Church, Eighth and Grove streets. Admission is free.

The program will include performances by the Baker Concert Choir, Baker Chamber Choir, Baker Orchestra, Baker Faculty Brass Quintet, Baker Percussion Ensemble, Baker Speech Choir, the Saxophone Quartet and the University Community Choir.

Matthew Potterton is the Vespers director and chorus conductor. Other conductors for Vespers are Lori McKinney, orchestra; Ray James, brass ensemble; Steve Riley, percussion ensemble; J.D. Parr, saxophone quartet; and Susan Emel, speech choir. Nanette Kraus will serve as the accompanist.

The Baldwin First United Methodist Women will be host to a reception after the performances.
