Baker seniors honored as Teachers of Promise

Baldwin City, Kan. — Baker University seniors Katy Kendrick and Eli Jones were recognized as Teachers of Promise during the Kansas Teacher of the Year 2011 State Awards Banquet on Nov. 20 in Wichita. Kendrick is an elementary education major from Eudora, and Eli Jones is a music education major from Tonganoxie.soe

Schools of Education in Kansas were allowed to nominate two talented students for the Teachers of Promise honor. Kendrick and Jones, who are both currently student teaching, were chosen by Baker’s School of Education undergraduate faculty.

Merrie Skaggs, associate professor of education and chair of the School of Education undergraduate program, joined the Baker students at the banquet.
