Baker’s Symphonic Winds to perform at Rice Auditorium
Baldwin City, Kan. — The Baker University Symphonic Winds is scheduled to perform a concert with the MidAmerica Nazarene University Concert Band at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 10, at Rice Auditorium on Baker University’s Baldwin City campus. The concert is free and open to the public.
Ron McClellan, director of bands at MidAmerica Nazarene University, J.D. Parr, assistant director of bands at Baker, Steve Riley, percussion ensemble director at Baker, and Ray James, director of bands at Baker, will conduct the concert.
At the concert, there will be the premier performance of “Nocturnal Provocations”, a composition for percussion ensemble written by Baker University junior Scott Ireland.
The groups will perform “The Star-Spangled Banner,” arr. by Jack Stamp; “March ‘Grandioso’” by Roland F. Seitz /arr. by Alfred Reed; “Chorale and Shaker Dance” by John Zdechlik; “Fandango” by Frank Perkins / arr. by Floyd E. Werle; and “Home on the Range” arr. by Ralston/Barnes.
