Community Choir to perform at Spring Choral Concert on May 1
Baldwin City, Kan. — Baker University’s Concert Choir and the Community Choir will perform at the annual Spring Choral Concert at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, May 1 at First United Methodist Church, 704 Eighth St. Admission is free.
The Concert Choir will sing “When David Heard” by Eric Whitacre and “Chichester Psalms” by Leonard Bernstein. Guest conductor Rachel Samet of the University of Hawaii will lead the performance of “Chichester Psalms,” featuring Tabitha Reist Steiner, harp; and Steve Riley, percussion. The Concert Choir also will sing a spiritual arranged by Ken Berg and join the Community Choir to perform another Bernstein classic, “Make Our Garden Grow.”
The Community Choir will perform the American folk song “Shenandoah” as well as works by Haydn and Verdi.
The Wellsville High School Choir, conducted by Nancy Lindbloom, will also perform at the concert.
